The Effect of Wrist Curls and Reverse Curls Using 0.5 kg Dumbbells on Badminton Backhand Lob Stroke Performance

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan wrist curl dan reverse curl menggunakan dumbbell 0,5 kg terhadap hasil pukulan backhand lob bulutangkis. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi-experiment dan desain one-group pretest-posttest. Populasi sekaligus sampel adalah 30 siswa kelas 8 MTs Hidayatullah yang dipilih melalui total sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes keterampilan backhand lob yang dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Latihan diberikan selama lima minggu dengan frekuensi tiga kali seminggu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan backhand lob, dengan nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 54,2 meningkat menjadi 76,7 pada posttest. Berdasarkan paired sample t-test, diperoleh nilai signifikansi p < 0,05, sehingga H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima. Implikasi penelitian menunjukkan bahwa latihan wrist curl dan reverse curl menggunakan dumbbell 0,5 kg dapat menjadi bentuk latihan sederhana untuk meningkatkan kemampuan backhand lob. Latihan ini dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran pendidikan jasmani maupun latihan bulutangkis siswa untuk meningkatkan kekuatan dan kontrol pergelangan tangan.
